The Space Telescope Science Institute, located on the Johns Hopkins University Campus in Baltimore, Md., is seeking a Sr. Administrative Assistant to support the Science Mission Office. In support of the Division management and staff, the position performs a variety of administrative and secretarial functions ensuring timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks. Duties & Responsibilities: -Plan, coordinate, and execute the administrative logistics for workshops, symposia, and other special events for the Science Mission Office. This entails pre-event planning and all associate tasks, provision of administrative support during the actual events, and event close-out activities. -Provide high level customer service to all visitors who are associated with our workshops, symposia, and other special events, as well as to internal staff members. -Provide general administrative support to departmental staff, including coordination of travel needs, arrangement of meetings and teleconferences, and coordination of various activities. -Utilize various on-line facilities, such as the web and other custom software for information research, scheduling, presentation material preparation, database maintenance, and other applications, as needed. -Assist with special projects as required and/or serve on special working groups or committees in support of the Division. Requirements: High school diploma, or equivalent, some college coursework preferred, with 6 to 10 years of prior experience in an administrative support role or equivalent, with proven experience coordinating special events and activities. Intermediate to advanced level of experience on Microsoft Office software package, with an emphasis on Word and Excel, is required. Prior experience utilizing PC or Macintosh computers is required.
