To support this mission, PayPal is seeking a research professional to join the global market research function. This position will support a wide variety of consumer, merchant, and global research insight initiatives across the organization. Responsibilities include partnering with internal business partners to identify, prioritize, design, execute and communicate insights from ad-hoc and regular tracking studies. We especially would like someone interested and well experienced in all kinds of merchant research, from sole proprietors to SMB's, to large merchants. In order to be effective this individual will need to collaborate closely with other functions, including web and customer analytics, user experience, strategy, customer service, operations excellence, and eBay Inc market research. Qualifications: BS required; MA, MBA, in business, marketing, psychology or related field preferred; PhD a strong plus. Stats and experimental design training 4-6 or more years of relevant work experience Experience working with large data sets using software tools such as SPSS, SAS, Business Objects a plus Familiarity with PayPal or eBay a plus Significant research experience with merchants, payments, financial services, and internet services Demonstrated ability to formulate and deliver insights that have importantly impacted business results Ability to quickly understand and use a variety of data to uncover a cohesive “story” that will help decision-makers take action; ability to summarize and “bottom line” research results in crisp executive summaries and recommendations Ability to understand business issues and translate them into metrics and research design. Team player comfortable with experience interacting with different functional areas in marketing, especially analytics. Detail orientation and an analytical mind-set; interest and experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis. Experience managing qualitative studies a must. Moderate amount of travel may be required Demonstrated experience and success managing large international research projects. Deep experience doing research to support marketing organizations and/or agencies Demonstrated project management experience Able to prioritize and complete multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity simultaneously. A track record of delivering project results on time and on budget. Strong written, presentation and oral communication skills. Strong vendor management skills and demonstrated experience
