The Director, Emerging Markets and Hospitals Innovation Strategy will be responsible for developing a strategic new product roadmap, as well as for the creation of new product seed ideas that address key customer unmet needs and improve ADC's commercial prospects in two areas: - Emerging Markets - China, Brazil and India - Hospitals - both developed world (US and JCAHO hospitals) and rest of world - Develop 5-year strategic new product roadmaps for Emerging Markets and for Hospitals that specify what technologies/products ADC should develop. Each strategic roadmap should specify where ADC should play, as well as how ADC will win. -- Working with a cross-functional team, the Director must validate both the commercial and technical feasibility of these new product ideas, ultimately handing off precise development plans to the brand commercialization team who are responsible for the successful launch of new products. - For each new product idea, the Director's primary responsibility is to develop detailed product requirements ("specs") which will guide the development of the product. The Director must also quantify Total Addressable Market, as well as the Revenue / Profit impact of this new product to ADC. - Other responsibilities for specific new product development include: - Develop and lead an ideation process that leverages market research, involves key cross-functional thought leaders, evaluates unmet consumer needs and yields a stream of new product seed ideas - Direct Market Research budgets to support commercial feasibility assessment of new product ideas. - Develop requests for R&D resources to conduct initial technical feasibility assessments. - Program leadership through Phase 0 and Phase 1A of the NPI Process. - Finally, the Director will also partner with Business Development and lead the commercial evaluation of acquisitions, licensing and divestitures for ADC. The role works with Business Development to provide commercial leadership for ADC including: - Opportunity identification to close technology gaps or add capability to the pipeline. - White space opportunity evaluation to enter new markets. - Commercial validation of promising candidates. - Financial assessment and input to deal models. - Creation of strategic partnerships leading to new business models. - Work closely with in country line management to indentify and create such opportunities. - This position may require up to approximately 50% travel, working in key markets as well as with external partners and key opinion leaders participating on the virtual innovation team. Position requires approximately 2 weeks each quarter in each of the three lead emerging markets of China, Brazil, and India. QUALIFICATIONS: Discover a world of opportunities at Abbott.
