["•\tDirects all aspects of the unit, ensuring that the library’s strategic and annual plans are incorporated into and accomplished through unit goals and objectives;\r\n•\tGuides, develops, and supervises middle managers directly and through them manages additional faculty and staff;\r\n•\tAssesses operating and staffing needs, develops plans accordingly;\r\n•\tManages resources and project plans, sets priorities, ensures sustained progress toward achieving goals, and drives continuous improvement in operations and services;\r\n•\tCollaborates with AUL for Analytics, Collections & Outreach, the AUL for Law, the AUL for Administration, and other members of the senior leadership team to create and support new services, identify areas of growth and need, and make determinations about services and activities that should be discontinued;\r\n•\tSupports the promotion and tenure process for library faculty in their unit, which features a strong mentoring program.", "•\tProvides leadership for the conception, development and implementation of digital, data and technology projects that meet the Libraries’ and University’s goals and objectives; conform to establish standards; and are completed on time and within budget;\r\n•\tCollaborates with the Libraries’ Executive Leadership team on the delivery and assessment of services provided at service desks, in technology-enhanced library spaces, through the Libraries’ web presence, the university institutional repository, and on digital content;\r\n•\tAdvises the Libraries’ Executive Leadership team on collaborations with key stakeholders to develop solutions to curate, classify, visualize, and cost-effectively manage, store, steward and archive University resources and research data;\r\n•\tDevelops effective technologies, solutions, collaborations, and partnerships, especially in data curation, digitization, and digital scholarship, that advance the current and future needs of UB’s faculty, researchers, students, and communities;\r\n•\tEnsures that the Libraries’ digital holdings and services are widely and conveniently accessible through the Libraries’ Web interfaces, HathiTrust and other commonly used resources;\r\n•\tIn collaboration with the AUL for Administration, ensures that the marketing and communication surrounding the Libraries’ online presence is current and effective;\r\n•\tManages the budget planning for and acquisition of information technology, management of technology licenses, contact with outside vendors and preparation of technology budgets;\r\n•\tCollaborates with UBIT on support for the Libraries’ computing environment, including open computing spaces, teaching labs, and maker technologies.\r\n•\tSeeks opportunities to cultivate productive working relationships, collaborations, and partnerships with the University at Buffalo IT community and with regional, state, national and international entities.", "•\tProvides overall direction for the establishment of library collections, including acquiring and licensing collections materials and establishing and maintaining seamless access to online content;\r\n•\tProvides overall direction for metadata projects and workflows ensuring the work is grounded in applicable standards and accepted best practices and provides inclusive representation of marginalized perspectives in local, national, and international standards and policies;\r\n•\tProvides expertise and support to create and maintain appropriate metadata policies regarding digital and tangible resources, covering a variety of media, including text, scores, still images, audio, video and other ephemera;\r\n•\tEnsures that the University Libraries contributes to the development and implementation of metadata systems and standards at the national and international levels.", "•\tProvides collaborative leadership to build out an innovative center in the libraries that will provide data services to researchers in the health science disciplines;\r\n•\tActively supports the promotion of data curation services to the campus community;\r\n•\tSupports the development of training and educational opportunities for data-related topics for librarians, staff and the broader UB community.", "•\tProvides leadership for the creation, curation, preservation and deployment of special content in physical and digital forms;\r\n•\tProvides leadership and strategic direction for Special Collections and Archives to support distinctive research, teaching, learning, and outreach services to the UB community and beyond.", "•\tDevelops strategies for cultivating collaborative working relationships among scholars, librarians, staff and students in order to align services proactively with academic priorities;\r\n•\tProvides overall direction for scholarly communication services that promote barrier-free availability of scholarly resources including open educational resources and affordable course content;
