Staff Assistant for Business Services

Buffalo, New York ~ November 15, 2021

  • Serve as the primary liaison with academic departments to support and manage a range of financial needs that advance the operations of the academic units. 
  • Support and guide faculty startup and research funds, including procurement and reconciliation
  • Coordinate with department and school leadership to ensure procurement and purchasing adheres to and in compliance with approved annual and account budget allocations.
  • Ensure spending fall within university and unit procurement guidelines and policies
  • In collaboration with UBO and Director of Personnel and Finance, create and distribute regular communications to faculty and staff that increase awareness of relevant university and unit financial policies

  • Support and manage the hiring process for all temp service employees for the school, including TA/GAs, adjunct hires and student assistants in coordination with the graduate program coordinators and department chairs.
  • Coordinate with UBO and Director of Personnel and Finance to implement appointment/reappointment process of all faculty/ staff  across all funding sources
  • Support search committee chairs to advance hiring and recruitment for the school

  • Evaluate and recommend process and workflow improvement opportunities to unit business officer
  • Supervise business office student assistants
  • Other duties as assigned
