Staff Attorney

  • Assist with clinic seminar (when needed)
  • Assist with logistics of managing clinical courses.
  • Supervise students intensively in carrying out full range of litigation, counseling, policy-making, and other lawyering tasks.
  • Assist in conducting weekly supervision meetings with case teams.
  • Assist with providing feedback to students on written work.
  • Prepare students for lawyering tasks.
  • Encourage students to reflect on ethical and professional aspects of their work.
  • Ensure that clinic case files, time records, and other records are current, complete, and well-organized.
  • Compile materials for seminar courses on particular subjects, as directed by Clinic Director
  • Assist with developing teaching plan for a number of seminar sessions.

  • Take primary responsibility for assigned client matters during semester and semester breaks.
  • Ensure that client matters are ready for student attorneys at the beginning of each semester.
  • Ensure that clinic case files, time records, and other records are current, complete, and well-organized.
  • Serve as main contact for the several different clinics in the directors’ absence.

  • Develop relationships with potential clients and community partners.
  • Identify potential cases in which the clinic may wish to provide pro bono representation.
  • Conduct and evaluate client intake and help determine whether to offer representation.
  • Serve on relevant boards, committees, or informal organizations in the community.
  • Provide assistance in seeking outside funding to support clinics, including: research and data/material compilation for grants related to clinics areas, as directed by supervisors in the Clinical Legal Education Program 
  • Assist with developing and drafting of grants through the Research Foundation
  • Coordinate grant submission/ application materials with Sr. Managing Director
